As an omnichain domain name provider it is important for the Bonfida team to explore many blockchain ecosystems. Where possible, integrate and/or partner with existing name services on other chains to blend our mutually interested communities.

Therefore it is with great pleasure that we get to announce our partnership with a fellow domain name provider, Starknet.id! Starknet ID acts as your Starknet Profile - seamlessly connecting you to the entire Starknet ecosystem.

The partnership

With the partnership, we are allowing our user bases to familiarize themselves with another chain using a product they are acquainted with, domains. Instead of creating an entirely new name service or segmenting the domain space even further with another TLD - we can partner with like-minded namespace providers to form a global decentralized userbase. In doing so, we maintain the health and safety of existing TLDs, enlarge communities and build a stronghold narrative around more secure ways to adopt an interoperable web3 domain space.

Parent domains and their subdomains, no matter the chain, are a powerful mechanism to display the different ways your assets can be used. Subdomains and their usage are also a convention that has long withstood the test of the web2 domain structures. It is also a fun way to brand partnerships, build communities and group users for future drops.

In this way, both the Solana Name Service and Starknet.id, are issuing free subdomains for both holders of .sol and .stark - whereabout these subdomains can be used just like a parent domain on the respective chains.

How to get your SNS .stark

Every .sol holder can mint the same name they own on Solana on Starknet. The .sol.stark registrar will only be available for 1 week, so act fast! Registration of your Starknet ID will close on the 9th of May, 23:59 UTC.

Use https://app.starknet.id/solana and connect with your preferred Starknet wallet

Once connected, you’ll be prompted to connect a Solana wallet. Connect with the wallet address that holds your .sol domains

Next, select the subdomains you’d like to register on Starknet - remember you will only have the option to register the subdomains equivalent to the .sol domain you hold. Choose to bridge all of them or just one

Now you have your own Starknet ID domain! We hope to show you with this integration that fellow name providers can work collaboratively as opposed to purely competitively. That, with the wellbeing of collisions in mind.

A win for name services with values akin to ours is a win for us.
