A quadratic voting grant
DAO participation is one of our most challenging hurdles. That along with disproportionate voting power quadratic voting prevails to be a good optimization opportunity but is still underdeveloped on Solana. We have the idea to propose a grant as a common good problem for the ecosystem.
What is quadratic voting?
Think of it as a mechanism in DAOs that allows the intensity of conviction to be weighted. The counted votes are the square root of tokens allocated to each choice. This means that 100 tokens applied will give you 10 votes, 25 will give you 5 votes, 4 tokens 2 votes etc.
When compared to voting mechanisms like one-person-one-vote or one-token-one-vote, quadratic voting can help align incentives, balance power and encourage voter participation. It protects minorities, helps balance power against whales and may better capture community sentiment.
