Encrypted Emailing with SNS & Skiff

We are super excited to welcome Skiff to our Solana Name Service family! Skiff is a crypto-native, privacy-first collaboration that provides Web3 emailing, drives and docs, giving you the power to communicate freely.

Skiff x the Solana Name Service

Skiff now allows you to use your .sol domain name to serve as your email address, ie. bonfida.sol@solana.email, to send E2E encrypted emails. Emails can be sent or received either to other wallets (+.sol domains) and/or other well-recognized mail providers such as Gmail. Thus allowing you to communicate with all addresses whether on Ethereum or Solana or any traditional emailing standard you are used to.

Who could’ve imagined? Your .sol is truly becoming your humanized metaverse ID, even extending to be your email address. We picture a world where you really would not need anything except your Solana domain name in the new wake of the Web.

How do I Configure & Use my .sol Email on Skiff?

Configuration

This process couldn’t be simpler, Skiff basically does all the work for you. There are two ways to go about this:

1. If signing up with a new account, choose the Phantom wallet option and proceed with the sign-up steps
2. If you already have an account, go to Skiff visit the alias settings page and connect your Phantom wallet. Then, your .sol domain will be auto-displayed and usable for sending and receiving to and from your inbox via @solana.email

Using Your .sol Email

Your new .sol @solana.email address is now usable across the web. Use it to sign up for services, communicate with other wallet addresses/ .sol domain names or for personal and professional communications. This, however, with the added touch that Skiff offers; your data remains private to you and encrypted with keys you alone own.

A few notes:

• Emoji domain email addresses may not be compatible with traditional email providers like Gmail
• Select your favorite domain at https://naming.bonfida.org/ to indicate your preferred .sol to Skiff
• NFT Solana Domains will not be picked up by Skiff email providers. You would have to unwrap your domain first
• Upon transferring or selling one of your domains it will automatically forward emails to the new address that owns the corresponding domain. In this manner keeping your email private and E2E encrypted
