Today we have a total of 224K .sol domain names registered of which 77K are unique owners. Over the month of January, we had 1,345 new domain name registrations and 1,148 sold on the secondary market. This amounts to an overall volume of $112,783.79 USD.
The long-awaited feature allowing keyword search and auto-suggestions of domain names is finally live. The idea was to enhance your searching capabilities and get this API integrated into explorers. Looking up domain names should be as easy as sending funds to one.
Solana domain names function in many forms. You have your native domain name, NFT domains and domains that have record sections set. With native domains, they are directly registered to your wallet address and fund transferring is typically easy. However, if a domain name is wrapped (tokenized) into an NFT, the native domain is stored in an escrow account until it is unwrapped again. This means, the domain is temporarily not directly linked to your pubkey and would generally result in confusion collecting funds (requiring unwrapping).
At last, we have all our major wallets properly resolving domain names no matter what form they are in. So, if funds are sent to your domain, it’ll end up in your wallet as expected without any additional effort.
